Socially-Responsible Gift Giving
You can shop at the Sew Original Gift Shop at 718 S. Johnstone in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
When you give a gift from the Martha's Task Sew Original Gift Shop, you are not just buying a beautiful item that your friend or family member will love, you are going a step further by helping women who in poverty become more independent. Profits from Sew Original go directly to those in need. There are no rich CEOs in our corporation, no huge corporations with insane profits… the money you spend helps women in need. You can feel as good about spending your money as you do about giving a beautiful, hand-made gift.

There are many ways that you can shop responsibly. We are proud to offer you an outlet that is both socially responsible and environmentally conscious and we hope you will consider using the Sew Original Gift Shop for all your gift giving. If we don't have exactly what you are looking for, though, be sure to look for other outlets like ours. The internet makes it easy to find places that offer all kinds of socially-responsible products. You just have to think outside the box… outside the big-box stores, that is!
Environmentally-Friendly Products
The items made at Martha's Task are made from donated materials that may have otherwise ended up in a landfill. We strive to be environmentally-conscious by using unwanted materials to create beautiful, useful products.
Our ladies use donated sewing machines that are maintained and repaired by volunteers. We endeavor to keep all of our equipment and tools in top shape, so we can get many years of use and create less waste. We have found that being earth-friendly is easy when we base our work on the ideals of responsibility and independence… the qualities we teach the women at Martha's Task.
A Green State of Mind!
Martha' Task is a green operation in so many ways!
The Green of Newness
Living in generational poverty, many women come to Martha’s Task "green" in the area of work experience—some have never held a permanent job before.
The Green of Life
Our production cycle is very green—our community members donate fabric, sewing notions and used sewing machines that would have otherwise been discarded.
The Green of Growth and Renewal
Green is the symbol of renewal. Through their work at Martha’s Task, women develop new skills, find new hope, renewed confidence, and craft new lives.
